Windsor Castle is extremely popular with tourists from around the globe and has been home to the royalty of England for more than 900 years.  Today in fact, although people are able to wander around its grounds and certain parts of the castle, others are off limits to the public as the Queen and her family still have rooms that they reside in.

The site of this Royal Castle was chosen by William the Conqueror and was the ideal location to provide protection for England's capital.  Throughout the time that there has been a castle on this site successive member of the English throne have taken up residency in the castle and made numerous improvements to it.

Along with its Castle, the town of Windsor is known as a place where the famous author H G Wells lived.  The house he occupied is located on Windsor's High Street and is only a short walk from the castle itself.

It is as you walk down from the castle and wander around the streets of Windsor you will find plenty of places you can stop to take refreshment from.  You can either head off to one of the more well known fast food outlets or you may want to try a more traditional English light tea instead.  There are plenty of traditional teahouses in the town offering traditional English food for you to try.  From sandwiches to scones and of course not forgetting a good cup of English tea as well.
