Just like many of the other major seaports on the South coast of England, Southampton is a town with a large maritime history. A visit
to the Quay in Southampton and here you will find the Maritime Museum which is housed in the only woolhouse in Southampton that dates back to
medieval times (the 1400's).
It is inside this museum you will find housed one of the largest of all maritime collections in this part of England. Along with
information relating to the history of Southampton docks, it is here you will find a good collection of items relating to one of the world's most
famous liners "The Titanic" as well.
However, if the kids are a little bored of ships then take them off to Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre, which can be found on Southampton
Common, which is in the very heart of the city. Here they will find things that will interest them and learn more about what farming is
really like.
