Travel Lodge Dover

The nearest Travel Lodge to Dover is in fact situated in a town called Broadstairs, Near Margate.  But even though there is no actual Travel Lodge in Dover the one at Broadstairs is only a short distance away.

Most people when they go to Dover are often just passing through in order to catch a ferry that will take them to mainland Europe.  However, there are places to go and things to see in Dover itself.

One of the most popular attractions that visitors to Dover will go to is the Castle.  This has been the town's defensive stronghold for more than 2 thousand years.  Although the castle that now stands there was built at the time of the Norman invasion back in 1066 there have been forts and other fortifications on this site before then.

Because there has so much happened on this site you may find that your visit to the castle takes longer than you expected.  Certainly one feature which should not be missed during your visit is the tunnels which cover various dates throughout the castles history and are located underneath its outer baileys.

Another attraction which needs very little introduction and is well known across the world is Dover's White Cliffs.  They are situated on the southeast corner of the county of Kent (known as the Garden of England) and are one of the first sights a person will see as they travel over from Europe.  These cliffs have been providing a good defence from any invading armies for many thousands of years now.
