Travel Lodge Doncaster

The Travel Lodge, Doncaster is actually situated on the north side of Doncaster about six miles from the town center on the A1.  Although some distance from the town of Doncaster itself it provides you with the perfect base for visiting not only this town but the surrounding area as well.

If you do intend to go into Doncaster then you should spend time visiting Doncaster Minster.  It stands on its own in isolation between the center of the town and close to the River Don.  This gothic building designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott was built in 1858 following the destruction of the Norman perpendicular church that originally stood here in 1853.  One of the main features for which many visitors go to see at this imposing building is the stained glass.  Although originally known as the Parish Church of St George in 2004 it became Doncaster Minster.

Further outside town is Cusworth Hall and Park and is the ideal place to laze away a sunny summer day.  This house that was built in the 18th Century is now home to the Museum of South Yorkshire Life.  Where you can learn about the history of the region throughout the centuries.

Plus the park that is attached to the house provides you with lots of great walks and beautiful picnic spots.  Which allow you to take in the sights and sounds that surround the whole estate.  Then once you return to the house why not stop for a light snack and a drink in the on site teashop.
