Travel Lodge Canterbury

The Travel Lodge, Canterbury is also known as the Dunkirk Hotel and is situated on the outskirts of this beautiful and historic city.  Although there is not much in the way of nightlife to be enjoyed in the city there is plenty of places to go during the day.

But you do not need to restrict yourself to the city of Canterbury, as there are other places that you may want to consider visiting.  For the children you may want to spend some time with them at Howletts Wild Animal Park, which is around 13 miles away, or why not take them to Dover Castle instead.

However in the city there are plenty of attractions that will entertain you during your visit to the city the most popular ones being its Castle and Cathedral.  The Norman castle in Canterbury was constructed shortly after the battle of Hastings and although now only a ruin it shows what life would have been like at the time.  Later on before it became ruin the castle was also used as a jail.

As for Canterbury Cathedral the site on which it stands has been a place of worship for more than fourteen hundred years now.  Going back right through history to the medieval times people have always been making pilgrimages to this site and is home of the Archbishop of Canterbury who is leader of the Church of England.    Because it is an extremely popular place for tourists to visit the cathedral is well maintained and provides access to both able and disabled people.
