Travel Lodge Penrith
The Travel Lodge Penrith is in an ideal location for one to be
able to easily visit Ullswater Lake, the Lake District and the town
of Keswick. As you will soon discover this particular hotel
offers its guests good quality contemporary accommodation at very
affordable rates. So it makes it the ideal place to base
oneself when visiting the area and all its attractions.
Two of the attractions that are a favorite with all visitors to
Penrith and which is located close by in Little Salkeld are Long
Meg and Her Daughters and the Little Meg Stone Circle. Both
of these are ancient stone circles with the first being one of the
largest you are likely to find in Britain today. Long Meg is
in fact the tallest stone to be found in this circle and stands
just over 3.5 metres high. As for Little Meg, this stone
circle is somewhat smaller in size than the other is and is around
5 metres in diameter.
The other attraction, which is a favorite with those visiting
the town of Penrith, is its castle. This is located in Castle
Park that is opposite to the railway station and forms a marvellous
backdrop to the town's public park now. Originally, only a
tower was built on the site between 1397 and 1399 but over time, it
was extended and improved, although today all that are left are the
ruins and the moat that surrounded it.
If however you and your family are looking for some excitement
during your visit to Penrith then a visit to the National
Mountaineering Exhibition is the place to go.
